We are looking for a Lead External Development Artist to help us build realistic weapons and vehicles, inspire incredible artwork, contribute to defining our production techniques and maintain budgets while always being focused on the highest quality execution – with empathy and clarity being at the heart of who you are as a leader. Reporting to the Content Production Director, the Lead ExDev Artist is a practical artist, inspired not only by the games industry but as a subject matter expert in art production with a passion for working with teams to create something greater than they could by themselves. The role acts as the manager of a smaller internal team in addition to managing the collaboration with external teams.

Role and Responsibility of a Lead ExDev Artist:

  • Works together with our Art Director to support external artists in delivering weapon & vehicle assets to quality and in a timely manner.
  • Supports internal artists in their day to day work to facilitate good collaboration with our external teams.
  • Holds regular meetings with external teams, supporting, giving feedback and building their skills long-term.
  • Collaborates with leads across disciplines to create assets that not only look great but also match tech requirements, thinking game first.
  • Delegates tasks where necessary but above all nurtures a sense of ownership within the team, allowing artists to control their work where possible.
  • Questions and improves our production processes together with stakeholders, clarifying them to the team through presentations and documentation.

Skillset of a Lead ExDev Artist:

  • An artistic eye with the ability to get the best out of artists in their teams through feedback and support.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills with a propensity for building relationships across seniority levels and helping people develop throughout their career.
  • Strong capability in backlog and time management, organization skills as well as scoping to deadlines and constraints.
  • Being self-motivated with an ability to manage their workload through planning and delegation without direction.
  • Experienced in hard surface asset workflows, including but not limited to asset production, modeling and PBR texturing, referring to experts for specialist level knowledge.
  • Deep knowledge of art production process with an interest to collaborate with stakeholders to improve the way we work.
