We are seeking a highly driven, innovative, and passionate Director, North America Accounting Operations to join the Accounting Operations team inside Finance Operations. Accounting Operations provides large-scale, global accounting support for financial close, reporting, statutory compliance, and audit. We are a distributed team with staff and delivery centers around the world. Accounting Operations is continuously expanding its scope, evolving operating models with intelligent automation, innovative processes, and offering cost efficient solutions for ABK. We strive to provide end-to-end experiences for our customers with built-in compliance and intelligent insights.

As the Director, North America Accounting Operations, you will be responsible for timely and accurate accounting close processes and governance through our business process outsourcing model, ensuring business continuity and accounting compliance. You’ll provide thought leadership, guiding successful execution of accounting, statutory, and financial reporting processes, engaging with collaborators across ABK. The ideal candidate brings curiosity, innovative thinking, and a strong background in accounting close, business partnering, process management, and collaboration.

Accounting Operations

Leadership and Strategy

  • Use broad and deep industry knowledge to lead best-in-class Record-to-Report services with a focus on continuous process improvement.
  • Define and implement strategy, balancing user needs with operational priorities for larger return on investment.
  • Ensure team priorities align with organizational vision and strategy.

Team and Process Management

  • Manage a team responsible for timely, accurate, and compliant close processes. Lead escalations and mitigate risk as needed.

  • Ensure Accounting Operations maintains a strong environment of controls.
  • Drive process standardization across Finance Operations.
  • Establish and maintain effective business partnerships with teams across the company to enable business strategy.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a hard-working team. Champion a culture of continuous learning and professional growth, ensuring team members are motivated and aligned with organizational goals.

Cross-functional Engagement

  • Lead cross-functional engagements partnering with business and finance leaders in driving alignment for key initiatives and decisions.
  • Govern outsourced Accounting Operations globally; use metrics to size the risk and report on health of operations.
  • Zoom in as needed to analyze root causes of the process issues and zoom out to drive improvement at scale.

Compliance and Reporting

  • Ensure statutory financial statements and relevant tax filings are completed, filed timely, and in compliance with local laws and regulations.
  • Conduct P&L and BS analysis and respond to inquiries from business and finance partners regarding actuals.

Requirements & Experiences

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in Business, Accounting /Finance, or related field AND 8+ years accounting or finance experience
  • OR Master’s Degree in Business, Accounting /Finance, or related field AND 6+ year(s) accounting or finance experience
  • 8+ years of relevant work experience in Operations, preferably in a global Accounting Operations environment in a large organization with previous Accounting management experience
  • 3+ years people management

Skills and Expertise

  • Process excellence experience in Shared Service Center/Outsourcing environment a large plus.
  • Proven strategic and tactical business skills
  • System thinking – guide teams to perform end-to-end process/system analysis; apply knowledge of system interdependencies to find opportunities for process efficiency and effectiveness
  • Data-driven performance measurement and influence – guide teams to define measurable success criteria; conduct data-driven analysis to support risk management or organizational change initiatives.
  • Change Management – guide teams to define and implement organisational change plans.
  • Storytelling – guide teams to evangelize program to collaborators to secure consensus.
  • A demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively with all levels within an organization.
  • Must be comfortable working with ambiguity and influence without authority.
  • Shown ability to establish trust quickly and create win-win situations.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Experience in Oracle, Answers OBIEE and/or Smartview is a plus

In the U.S., the standard base pay range for this role is $120,600.00 – $223,110.00 Annual. These values reflect the expected base pay range of new hires across all U.S. locations. Ultimately, your specific range and offer will be based on several factors, including relevant experience, performance, and work location. Your Talent Professional can share this role’s range details for your local geography during the hiring process. In addition to a competitive base pay, employees in this role may be eligible for incentive compensation. Incentive compensation is not guaranteed.
