Our Motive is to develop innovative action games set in iconic worlds where every player feels like the hero. Let’s say that again-iconic worlds where every player feels like the hero. Our passion has taken us from imagining dogfighter pilots in Star Wars™: Squadrons to re-creating Isaac Clarke onboard the Ishimura in Dead Space™.

Currently, we’re working on two exciting projects, an original Iron Man™ action-adventure game and what’s coming next for Battlefield™.

Motive is looking for an Intermediate Level Designer to create engaging and immersive game levels that contribute to our creative vision.

Responsibilities:

  • Design game levels that are playable, enjoyable, and immersive.
  • Collaborate with technical and game design team members to understand and addressconstraints while maintaining high-quality levels.
  • Work closely with level artists to ensure playability of levels and graphic fidelity.
  • Contribute to playtests and design discussions.
  • Assist in improving the game editor.
  • Test and troubleshoot areas that are not working in the game engine and resolve issues.
  • Collaborate with the Usability Lab to produce usability studies and tests.

Qualifications:

  • You have 3+ years’ experience in video game level design with experience on at least one AAA title.
  • Experience using visual scripting and level design tools.
  • Ability to communicate design decisions and create design documents.
  • Ability to work with partners to implement a vision.
  • Proficiency in prototyping ideas and sharing them with stakeholders.
  • Comfort and capability in creative and technical design discussions.
  • Interest in environmental aesthetics.
  • Understanding of function vs. form relationships and what makes a game level fun and intriguing.
  • Must work well in a team spanning artists, programmers, and designers. We’re looking for someone who thrives in the collaborative environment of new game creation.
  • Ability to break down tasks and work with production to produce estimates and set priorities.
